People love mysteries and love the guessing game that it can sometimes be. But why?? As humans, we are fascinated with wondering who, what, when, where, and why. Playing as an "at-home detective" to try and piece together the puzzle to solve the murder and its reasoning. Humans are naturally curious as to what goes through a person's mind when something as terrible as committing a murder happens.
"I Survived" is a show where someone retells the story about how they escaped death. These people go through these horrible events that leave them scarred. Listening to these stories can sometimes catch you off guard to find that the person who did these crimes was not someone you would have thought. The suspense and the wondering can have you on edge. Maybe it's the thrill and adrenaline that humans enjoy.
Cold cases might be a little more annoying for some, leaving them to wonder who would do such a thing, and yet nobody has that answer. The criminal is still out wandering the streets, possibly hiding or looking for their next victim. Not knowing why, alone, can be very annoying. Some murders can be unsolved for many years but as technology advances, more and more cold cases start to find their suspects and their closure. Making sure that no one else gets hurt and families are safe can give one a piece of mind.

I enjoy the occasional true crime show or podcast. But I have to admit, some of the die-hard fans of the genera scare me. Great fun most of the time though, as long as we all remember the victims and their families are real people who really experienced these horrible things.
