Welcome back!
I knew you would return! December is coming in hot, and here's another history behind one of the most famous holiday characters, after Saint Nicholas, Mr. Scrooge, and the Grinch. Krampus, the devilish companion of our dear St. Nick. Dating back to the 14th century, Legend has it that Krampus is half goat, half man, who visits the naughty boys and girls in December and drags them to the underground. Well maybe. Much like how adults spook their children dressing as the Grinch and stealing their gifts, on Krampus Day, adults would dress like the creature to send the naughty children a message. Krampus was known more in Austria and Germany. Present day, they hold Krampus Runs, where adults dress as Krampus and run through town called Krampuslauf. Children would see many of these creatures running through their streets, making sure they behave, or they would get a visit from Krampus.
Krampus wasn't a legend that we knew in the USA until 2004 when graphic designer, Monte Beauchamp, published a book of Krampus cards. Soon after, the movie "Krampus" was released in 2015. As we all know, we enjoy spooky legends and make ugly sweaters of these creatures.
Have you seen the Krampus movie? Who do you think would win, St.Nick vs Krampus. Hope you enjoyed this little history lesson, Until next time, bye!

Hi Denise! I love how the font you chose makes it look like you're writing a Christmas letter! Like that is literally so cute! I've heard of Krampus before, but I never actually knew who he was or the history of it all - now I do! Now whenever someone brings up Krampus again, I won't have to smile and nod like an idiot haha thanks!
